Charles R. “Chuck” Barfield died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Deer Park Hunting Club in Claiborne County. He was 51.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, he was a 1979 graduate of Warren Central High School. He was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mat Sinking Unit as first assistant engineer on the M.V. Benyaurd. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Deer Park Hunting Club and a member of the Redbone United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Barfield; paternal grandparents, Edwin G. “Cutt” and Gladys B. Barfield; and his maternal grandparents, Earl and Frances Carpenter. Barfield of Vicksburg; his daughter, Beth Kistler of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Lexi Kistler, Lili Kistler, Brittain Kistler and Brooke Kistler; one great-grandson, Kullen Kistler; his mother, Kay Carpenter Barfield of Vicksburg; his sister, Debra B. Marshall of Vicksburg; two nieces, Brittany Thomason and Brandi Toney, both of Vicksburg; and a great-niece, Kynsleigh Thomason of Vicksburg. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matt Buckles officiating, assisted by the Rev. Randall McCool. Interment will follow at Redbone Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Sanders, Mike Flanagan, Tully Woods, Mike Long, Paul Conerly, Alvin Beard, Brittain Kistler and Todd Flanagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Vance, Frank Segree, Jimmy Gayle, Mark Brown, the Green Meadows Gang, employees of MV Benyaurd Mat Sinking Unit and the members of Deer Park Hunting Club.
